Compare an original and its exported copy
Select two files to compare dimensions, file size, camera details and detected GPS. The example generates two simple images in your browser; it does not represent a real photograph or a metadata-removal test.
Choose both images, or run the example.
B compared with A:
| Field | A | B |

A smaller file is not automatically better. Missing fields only describe supported metadata in these copies. This comparison does not prove authenticity or detect every hidden metadata field. The downloaded report can contain private capture details; review it before sharing.

How this check works
- 1
Select the original and the exported copy, or run the generated example.
- 2
Compare the pixel dimensions, bytes and supported metadata fields.
- 3
Download a report if needed; review private fields before sharing it.

Practical examples and limitations
When to use this tool
Use comparison after resizing, compression, conversion or metadata removal. It presents two real file copies together so you can check what your workflow produced. The byte difference measures storage, the pixel difference measures resolution, and the detected fields describe metadata supported by the reader.
Worked example
Run the example before choosing private images. It generates a 1200 × 900 PNG and a 640 × 480 JPG locally. The second file retains about 28.4% of the first file’s pixels, regardless of the browser-specific encoded file sizes. Both generated files normally have no camera GPS; this demonstrates dimensions and format changes, not GPS removal.
What to check before using the result
The previews show the whole images for comparison; they are not a pixel-difference or forensic analysis. Matching dimensions and camera values do not prove identical content. Report downloads may include filenames and capture metadata. A missing supported field should be checked alongside the visible image and any other copies you will share.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does this comparison prove that all metadata was removed?+
No. It compares supported, readable fields in the two selected files. Undetected EXIF or GPS is not proof that every proprietary field or other copy is empty.
Your images never leave your device.+
ImageMetaCheck reads your file with browser APIs on your device. The image is never sent to our server, stored in a database, or used for training.
