Practical examples and limitations
When to use this tool
Create a widely compatible JPG copy when the destination cannot open HEIC or HEIF. Keep the original if it contains an image sequence, editing information or qualities you may need later. Conversion is performed by a locally hosted decoder in your browser, not by an upload service.
Worked example
Choose one HEIC file, set JPEG quality and save the result. Open the JPG in the metadata checker and compare its dimensions with the original information shown by your device. A JPG is a still image: it does not replace a Live Photo’s motion component or all of a multi-image HEIF container.
What to check before using the result
Decoding can require far more memory than the compressed file size. Unsupported variants, HDR or wide-gamut images may fail or look different after conversion. A JPG output is lossy and may not preserve original metadata or color characteristics. Inspect the copy on the device where it will be used.
