Practical examples and limitations
When to use this tool
Check the exact photo copy you intend to send. Detected latitude and longitude can reveal a home, school or workplace. The tool reads embedded coordinates locally; it does not request the current device location and does not reverse-geocode your photo through a mapping service.
Worked example
If the original shows GPS and a cleaned copy does not, compare both files to verify the readable GPS fields changed. Check the received or downloaded file again after messaging or cloud export. Disabling camera location access today does not remove coordinates from photos already taken.
What to check before using the result
No GPS result is not a promise of anonymity. Other metadata, filenames, visible addresses and recognizable scenery may reveal a location. Coordinates can be edited and are not proof of where an image was captured. Avoid sharing a comparison report that contains private coordinates.
