Practical examples and limitations
When to use this tool
This tool creates a fresh image through browser decoding and canvas encoding. It is useful when you want a shareable copy without carrying over the original camera metadata. It is not a byte-preserving edit of an EXIF block: the pixel data is re-encoded and the appearance may change.
Worked example
Keep an original backup. Choose PNG or WebP if transparency matters, or JPG with a suitable quality setting for a photograph. Download the cleaned output, open it in the metadata checker and compare it with the original. Verify dimensions, visible orientation and the absence of supported unwanted GPS fields.
What to check before using the result
Re-encoding may remove a color profile, change colors or reduce quality. A JPG copy is lossy even if the size stays the same. Private text in the picture or filename survives metadata removal. Do not discard the original until you have reviewed the downloaded output; no supported-field detector guarantees that every possible metadata format is empty.
